Sleep Studies

Few things are more satisfying than a good night’s sleep. Those who have trouble finding a good night’s sleep can find help at the Holy Spirit Sleep Centers.

Geisinger Holy Spirit has two sleep centers, located at 3 Walnut Street, Lemoyne and 20 Capital Drive, Harrisburg. Each patient room in the Sleep Centers features a private bathroom, individual thermostat controls and a Sleep Number bed.

How We Study Your Sleep

After your arrival, our experienced technicians will apply sensors to monitor your brainwaves, breathing, snoring and movements. We use the latest equipment to ensure a positive, painless experience. While you sleep, the technician will carefully monitor the study. This comprehensive study is invaluable in diagnosing sleep disorders such as Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Narcolepsy and Restless Leg Syndrome.

The Impact of Poor Sleep

It is estimated that 40 million Americans suffer from a chronic sleep disorder. Another 20-30 million experience occasional sleep-related problems. Sleep disorders are common, and poor quality of sleep can lead to a host of health, safety and personal issues, both on the job and at home. Left untreated, sleep disorders can also increase the risk of heart attack and stroke. Symptoms of sleep apnea can include snoring, excessive sleepiness, high blood pressure, neck size of more than 16 inches (men) and 15.5 inches (women), and Body Mass Index (BMI) of more than 35.
