Cardiac Diagnostic Services
Our highly trained team uses the latest technology to perform a full range of tests and services that help diagnose and treat cardiac disorders.
Procedures We Perform
Our credentialed cardiac sonographers use state-of-the-art equipment to conduct non-invasive studies that assist in and expedite diagnosis:
Adult echocardiograms provide information on heart size, pumping strength, heart muscle damage, valve problems and heart defects.
Stress echocardiograms detect heart problems, particularly those involving the coronary arteries, which occur only during physical activity.
Our specially trained team of registered nuclear technologists, nurses and exercise physiologists use highly sensitive, precise equipment, medications and imaging materials to detect actively blocked arteries and muscle damage. Tests include treadmill stress testing and medication stress testing.
Non-Invasive Vascular Testing
Early detection of vascular disease is possible through non-invasive testing performed by Geisinger Holy Spirit Cardiovascular Diagnostic Services. A registered technician delivers personal care for all patients. Testing includes examination of veins and arteries for many conditions:
- Abdominal aorta, for detection of aneurysms
- Carotid arteries, leading to the brain, for detection of blockages that can increase risk of stroke
- Renal arteries, leading to the kidneys, for detection of blockages that can cause kidney damage and hypertension
- Veins throughout the body, for detection of blood clots that can break loose and travel to the lungs, causing a life-threatening situation
