Bereavement Support

A loss of a loved one can be a difficult experience for any person to bear. You do not have to go through those feelings alone. Holy Spirit Hospital's Pastoral Care Department offers a six-week Bereavement Support Group. Sister Margaret Washington, ASC presenter for the Wednesday evening series and Sister Maria Theresa Hronec, SSCM is the presenter for the Wednesday afternoon series.

Blood Donation

As a member of the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank, Holy Spirit participates in both autologous (blood you donate for your scheduled surgery needs) and directed (blood donated for other specified recipients) donor programs. To donate, call 717-763-2194 for an appointment. The hours of Holy Spirit Hospital's outpatient laboratory and Holy Spirit Laboratory West, 550 North 12th Street, Lemoyne. The main hospital's lab hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Wednesday, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. The Laboratory West's new hours will be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Diabetes Management & Education

The risk of diabetes-related complications can be reduced as much as 76% through proper management. Holy Spirit's specially trained staff at our Diabetes Center provide private, personalized inpatient or outpatient education covering all aspects of diabetes care, including:

  • Insulin administration
  • Self blood-glucose testing
  • Gestational diabetes
  • Meal planning
  • Insulin pump initiation
  • Early management and more

We also sponsor special events, such as the annual Diabetes Taste-In.

The Center is located in Room 107 of the Medical Arts Building (adjacent to the Professional Pharmacy), 890 Poplar Church, Camp Hill, PA.

Geriatric Services

Our Senior Adult Treatment Program, provided through our Behavioral Health Center, helps older people deal with emotional and/or psychological problems associated with aging. Group and individual therapy, marital and family therapy, psychological evaluation and therapeutic recreation are offered in a supportive and welcoming environment. The Senior Adult Treatment Program emphasizes socializing with peers, focusing on a sense of purpose, setting goals and managing stress.

Life Support and CPR Training

West Shore Emergency Medical Services is certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Health for basic and advanced life support training, and certified to teach American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) programs, and CPR Instructor classes.

Nutrition Counseling / Medical Nutrition Therapy

If your physician has prescribed a special diet or if you want to learn more about good nutrition and a healthy diet, our registered dietitian can help.

Outpatient counseling includes:

  • Nutritional evaluation
  • Food preparation techniques
  • Understanding food labels
  • Meal planning
  • Strategies to ensure success

TEENLINE

If you're a parent trying to deal with a troubled teen, we can help. If you are a Central Pennsylvania teen and need somewhere to turn, we will be there for you. Our TEENLINE services are designed specifically to aid young people and their families, as well as other groups and individuals who are involved with teenagers, such as teachers and church leaders.

Services for teens and their families include:

  • Behavioral health services
  • Outpatient mental health and drug and alcohol services, including individual, group and family therapy
  • Psychiatric, psychological, and drug and alcohol evaluations
  • Educational workshops, presentations and training on mental health topics
