Free prostate cancer screenings to be offered in August
Men over 45 – or any man with a family history of prostate cancer – who have not had a prostate screening in the past year can get free PSA and DRE testing at two locations on Thursday, August 21.
Holy Spirit Health System and Urology of Central Pennsylvania, Inc. (UCPA) have teamed up with ZERO, The End Of Prostate Cancer, to bring a mobile unit to the area for free, confidential, and convenient testing. The ZERO mobile unit has two private exam rooms. Testing takes about 10 minutes and no appointment is needed.
The free DRE and PSA screenings will be provided in private exam rooms in a specially converted bus. Men can take advantage of these free screenings from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Holy Spirit Camp Hill Center, 875 Poplar Church Road, Camp Hill. The ZERO bus will travel to Metro Bank Park on City Island. Screenings will be offered from 3 to 7 p.m., prior to the Harrisburg Senators Game.
Holy Spirit Health System and UCPA are sponsoring Prostate Cancer Awareness Night at the Senators game on August 21. Game tickets are available for $11 each. Purchase tickets at any UCPA office or from the Harrisburg Senators at http://www.milb.com/tickets/singlegame.jsp?sid=t547 (use promo code: UCPA). Kids 9 and under can participate in the SuperHero Dash for Dad and run around the outfield with Rascal before the game at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 and include a ticket to the game and fireworks, Kids Zone wristband for unlimited fun that evening and a superhero cape. Register online at www.zeroprostatecancerrun.org/harrisburgkid. Proceeds will benefit ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer.
Physicians from Urology of Central Pennsylvania will perform the prostate exams and staff from Holy Spirit Hospital will draw the blood for the PSA screening.
