Holy Spirit Health System Named One of Best Places to Work in PA

Posted: 21 September 2012

For the fourth year in a row, Holy Spirit Health System has been named one of the Best Places to Work in PA. The awards program, created in 2000, is one of the first statewide programs of its kind in the country. The program is a public/private partnership between Team Pennsylvania Foundation, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the Pennsylvania State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, and the Central Penn Business Journal

This survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Pennsylvania, who are benefiting the state's economy and its workforce. Employers are categorized based upon the total number of employees they have in the United States, 25 to 249 employees (small/medium-sized companies) and 250 or more employees (large companies). Twenty-nine large-sized companies and 71 small/medium-sized companies were chosen for the 2012 Best Places to Work in PA awards. The complete list of the 2012 Best Places to Work in PA award recipients can be found at www.bestplacestoworkinpa.com and at www.CPBJnow.com/events.

 “Our employees know us best, and they’ve always said Holy Spirit is a great place to work,” said Sister Romaine Niemeyer, President and CEO of Holy Spirit Health System.  “We have a truly wonderful, caring staff who provide the highest quality of care. This award recognizes the good work our employees do and the collaborative working environment we’ve created together with our employees. We are proud to be recognized as one of the very best places to work in Pennsylvania.”

To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business;
  • Be a publicly or privately held business;
  • Have a facility in Pennsylvania;
  • Have at least 25 employees working in Pennsylvania; and
  • Be in business a minimum of one year.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the 100 Best Places to Work in PA. The first part of this process was evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process.

Holy Spirit Health System will be recognized at the Best Places to Work in PA awards banquet on Thursday, November 29, at the Lancaster County Convention Center in Lancaster, Pa. Rankings will be revealed at the ceremony. Tickets may be purchased online at www.CPBJnow.com/events.

In addition to the public/private partnership, the program is supported by the following organizations: Lead Sponsor—Team Pennsylvania Foundation; Presenting Sponsors—ParenteBeard, LLC and Wells Fargo; Major Sponsors—Capital BlueCross; Comcast Business Class; Comcast Spotlight; Global HR Research; Saul Ewing, LLP; and Purpose1.
