Holy Spirit offers FREE blood pressure screenings at the Cleve J. Fredricksen Library, 100 North 19th Street, Camp Hill, every Thursday, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Join us for free screenings and health information at the Cleve J. Fredricksen Library, 100 N. 19th Street, Camp Hill from 11 AM until 3 PM.  Screenings include blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), bone density, non-fasting glucose and cholesterol by fingerstick and sleep assessments.  We will also have staff available to discusss heart and stroke risk, falls prevention in the home and nutrition. 

You do not need to fast for any of these tests.  Registration is not required.

The program is designed to provide a secure and healthy walking environment to keep your body moving. Walkers are welcome anytime the mall is open.  Also, enjoy access to Holy Spirit health screenings and special events throughout the year.

Holy Spirit Health System offers a free support group for pregnant women and new mothers. Mothers can bring their babies up to 15 months old. “Mom’s Place” is for women who feel overwhelmed, sad, worried, or need extra support. “Mom’s Place” meets every Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 20 Erford Road, Suite 11, Lemoyne.

“Mom’s Place” is led by a clinician from Holy Spirit Hospital’s Behavioral Health department. The group is educational, supportive, and fun. Light refreshments are provided. “Mom’s Place” also hosts family night where women can bring partners or spouses. For more information, please call 763-2200.

 

The Bereavement Support Group is open to anyone experiencing grief after the loss of a loved one. Each week’s focus will assist participants in understanding how to cope with grief, and how to develop the skills necessary to turn mourning into memories.

The group will meet Wednesdays from March 8 through April 15, with two sessions offered each day: an afternoon session from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and an evening session from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Both sessions will focus on the same topic, so participants can choose either time to attend. All sessions will be held in the hospital auditorium, 503 N. 21st St., Camp Hill.

Participation is free, but registration is requested. To register, please call 717-763-2118 or 717-972-4255.

Holy Spirit Health System offers a free support group for those who have experienced miscarriage, pregnancy loss, or the death of a child. “Child of My Heart” meets on the second Monday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The support group is led by a nurse practitioner from Holy Spirit Hospital’s Behavioral Health department. Holy Spirit-A Geisinger Affiliate is committed to providing all new moms with access to breastfeeding education and support.

Our new Postpartum Pumping Class is designed for moms who want to learn how to pump, whether you are going back to work or just want to keep a supply on hand. Our lactation counselors will have pumps available to demonstrate, and will work with you on using your own pump effectively. Our counselors will also assist you with any pumping issuues you may be experiencing.

The class will meet in the hospital auditorium located at 503 N. 21st Street, Camp Hill, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the following Monday evenings:

  • January 9, February 20, March 13, April 10, May 8 and June 12.

Hear from a person who has lived with diabetes for more than 50 years. The monthly diabetes support group is held the second Monday of each month at Wegmans, Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg. No registration is required. For information, please call 717-763-2466.

Holy Spirit—A Geisinger Affiliate will host an A-Fib support group meeting Tues. March 14, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Holy Spirit Hospital auditorium, 503 N. 21st St., Camp Hill.

Holy Spirit providers will help attendees learn the signs and understand the basics of atrial fibrillation and learn how to stay on track with their treatment. Presenters will include Safwat Gassis, MD, FACC, FHRS; David Man, MD, FACC, FHRS; and Stacey Solomon, BSN, RN-BC. Brian Truax, LCSW, of Holy Spirit Behavioral Health, will also discuss coping strategies. Light refreshments will be provided.

Creative Elegance Boutique will be dressing our fashion models as they strut down the runway showcasing the trendiest colors of the season in clothing and accessories. In addition to the fashion show, attendees will enjoy a delicous lunch catered by West Shore Country Club, givewaways and a chance to win fabulous prizes. The cost to attend is $40 per person, and monies raised will go to support Holy Spirit Hospital.

 

The Annual Luncheon takes place at the West Shore Country Club, located at 100 Brentwater Road, Camp Hill.

Safe Sitter® prepares students ages 11-15 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting.

Students learn life-saving skills such as how to rescue someone who’s choking, and helpful information like what to do if there is severe weather. The lessons are filled with fun activities and role-playing exercises. Topics covered include developmental stages of children and their behavior, injury prevention, basic first aid, how to handle emergencies, safety for the sitter and how to look at babysitting as their own business.  Students even get to use CPR manikins to practice CPR or choking rescue!  Fee includes materials for class.

Healthy Recipes for Spring

Enjoy a cooking demonstration with registered dietician and nutritionist, Sadia Shaukat. Sadia will demonstrate and share easy-to-make recipes that are part of an anti-cancer diet. Taste samples provided!

The session will kick off with a welcome message from Dr. Angela Soto Hamlin, surgeon with Holy Spirit Breast Care Center. Dr. Soto Hamlin will discuss the concept of eating to beat cancer and foods that we should incorporate into our diets.

Take Charge sessions are held in the Holy Spirit Hospital auditorium located at 503 N. 21st St., Camp Hill. Enter in through the hospital main entrance and follow the signs for Take Charge.
