Holy Spirit—A Geisinger Affiliate is hiring RNs. Bring your resume and join us Friday, Feb. 3, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the hospital auditorium for onsite interviews and unit tours. Generous sign-on bonuses of $5,000 for new RNs and $10,000 for candidates with at least one year of acute care experience are available (paid in three installments). Cardiovascular Disease Awareness Day

When: Saturday, February 4, 8 a.m. to noon

Where: Holy Spirit Hospital Auditorium, 503 N. 21st St., Camp Hill

Join us for Cardiovascular Disease Awareness Day at Holy Spirit with special guest host Valerie Pritchett from ABC27. Learn more about heart disease and how you can protect yourself and your loved ones. Free health screenings available for those 18 and older. Screenings offered include body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, cardiovascular risk assessment, and non-fasting glucose & cholesterol tests. All pre-registered attendees will have extra chances to win door prizes.

The program is designed to provide a secure and healthy walking environment to keep your body moving. Walkers are welcome anytime the mall is open.  Also, enjoy access to Holy Spirit health screenings and special events throughout the year.

Mothers can bring their babies up to 15 months old. “Mom’s Place” is for women who feel overwhelmed, sad, worried, or need extra support. “Mom’s Place” meets every Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 20 Erford Road, Suite 11, Lemoyne.

“Mom’s Place” is led by a clinician from Holy Spirit Hospital’s Behavioral Health department. The group is educational, supportive, and fun. Light refreshments are provided. “Mom’s Place” also hosts family night where women can bring partners or spouses. For more information, please call 763-2200.

Let our lactation consultants answer your questions and address your concerns about breastfeeding at our monthly support group. This program is free and refreshments are provided.

The support group will meet in the hospital auditorium located at 503 N. 21st St., Camp Hill, from 10 a.m. to noon on the following Wednesdays (note the April meeting is on a Thursday):

  • January 11, February 8, March 15, April 6 (Thursday), May 10 and June 7.

Holy Spirit Health System offers a free support group for those who have experienced miscarriage, pregnancy loss, or the death of a child. “Child of My Heart” meets on the second Monday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The support group is led by a nurse practitioner from Holy Spirit Hospital’s Behavioral Health department. Our monthly diabetes support group will present "Explanation of Lab Reports." Ever wonder what all the blood work that your doctor orders is for? We can teach you about what the labs mean and what the goal ranges are. Held in the conference room located in the back of the dining area at Wegmans, Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg. The session is free and no registration is necessary.

Holy Spirit-A Geisinger Affiliate is committed to providing all new moms with access to breastfeeding education and support.

Our new Postpartum Pumping Class is designed for moms who want to learn how to pump, whether you are going back to work or just want to keep a supply on hand. Our lactation counselors will have pumps available to demonstrate, and will work with you on using your own pump effectively. Our counselors will also assist you with any pumping issuues you may be experiencing.

The class will meet in the hospital auditorium located at 503 N. 21st Street, Camp Hill, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the following Monday evenings:

  • January 9, February 20, March 13, April 10, May 8 and June 12.

The Spirited Hearts Cardiovascular Support Group will host a Valentine's Day party with a discussion on marital relations and cardiac events on Feb. 22. Psychotherapist Dan Marrow, LMFT, will lead the discussion. Complimentary dinner with dessert for all pre-registered attendees will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the presentation. Professional counselors will be available for the last 30 minutes of the session to talk with attendees. The session will be held in the Holy Spirit Hospital Auditorium, 503 N. 21st St., Camp Hill. Future Spirit Hearts sessions will be held Weds., May 24 and Weds., Oct. 25. All sessions are held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Topics will be announced as presenters are finalized. Each session includes complimentary dinner and dessert for pre-registered attendees.

In honor of American Heart Month, Holy Spirit--A Geisinger Affiliate will offer a free CPR class for the community on Saturday, Feb. 25. Participants will learn basic CPR, how to assist a person who is choking, and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). The class also includes information about how to recognize the signs of a stroke, heart attack, cardiopulmonary arrest and airway obstruction.
