Free Prostate Cancer Screenings to be Offered in Harrisburg and Mechanicsburg

Posted: 15 August 2013

Prostate cancer affects 1 in 6 men. Early detection could save lives. Holy Spirit Health System and Urology of Central Pennsylvania, Inc., are partnering with ZERO, The End of Prostate Cancer, to provide free prostate cancer screenings on Wednesday, September 11. The free DRE and PSA screenings will be provided in private exam rooms in a specially converted bus. Men can take advantage of these free screenings from 8 to 11:30 a.m. in Harrisburg near the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant at 4600 Jonestown Road, and from 1 to 4:30 p.m. in Mechanicsburg near the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant at 6385 Carlisle Pike.

These free screenings are intended for men who are aged 55 to 69, all African American men, or any man who has a family history of prostate cancer. The screenings take about 10 minutes and no appointment is needed. All participants will receive a 15% off coupon for Buffalo Wild Wings. If the coupon is used that day, a portion of the sale will benefit ZERO, The End of Prostate Cancer.

Physicians from Urology of Central Pennsylvania will perform the exams and staff from Holy Spirit Hospital will draw the blood for the PSA screening.
