Educational Seminar on Fall Prevention to be Offered

Posted: 6 September 2011

Holy Spirit Health System will host a free educational seminar on fall prevention in October. Ellen Feidt, RN, patient safety officer, Holy Spirit Health System, will present “Don’t Fall for Me” on Thursday, October 20, at 6 p.m. The lecture will be held in Holy Spirit Hospital’s Auditorium.

According to the CDC, one out of every three adults over the age of 65 falls each year. Also, more than 18,000 people die each year from unintentional fall injuries. These rates are sharply increasing. In 2009, more than 2.2 million non-fatal fall injuries occurred among older adults and required emergency room treatment. During this presentation, Feidt will address strategies to prevent falls, health changes that put you at risk for falls, and medication risks. She also will discuss home safety.

There is no need to register. Light refreshments will be served. If you have questions, please call 763-2427.
