Construction Begins on the Holy Spirit Progress Center

Posted: 21 September 2012

Holy Spirit Health System held an event last week commemorating the start of construction of the Holy Spirit Progress Center at 20 Capital Drive, Harrisburg. Holy Spirit will be consolidating several outpatient services at this facility, as well as opening its second sleep center. The four-bed sleep center will help physicians diagnose sleep disorders using the latest technology.

“Addressing the needs of the patients throughout Central Pennsylvania has always been the essence of our mission,” said Sister Romaine Niemeyer, SCC, President and CEO, Holy Spirit Health System. “We saw this business park as an opportunity to provide patient-centered care in a more efficient manner. This is another example of how Holy Spirit Health System is meeting the needs of patients throughout Central Pennsylvania.”

Holy Spirit currently offers imaging and laboratory collection services at an outpatient facility at the corner of Crums Mill and Colonial Roads. One of Holy Spirit’s cardiology offices, Capital Cardiovascular Associates, and cardiovascular imaging is located at 5 Capital Drive. These services will be consolidated at the new Holy Spirit Progress Center for patients’ convenience. Imaging services, including cardiovascular imaging, CT, digital mammography with computer-aided detection and digital x-ray, 3D and 4D ultrasound and breast ultrasound, full-body bone densitometry, and fluoroscopy, as well as complete specimen draws, laboratory collection services and routine EKG services, will be offered at the new center.

“The need for health care reform in this country is promoting a shift to less expensive preventative, primary and outpatient care rather than more expensive hospital care,” said Rick Schaffner, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Holy Spirit Health System

“And, Holy Spirit Health System, like most healthcare organizations, is investing more resources in outpatient services and locations.”

The 30,000-square-foot building is expected to open in early 2013. Holy Spirit will be leasing 27,000 square feet. Szeles Capital Development LP is the site developer and owner of the building. The project is being financed by AmeriServ Financial Bank.
